I began my design with this lovely handmade pottery cuff bead by Cindy Kovar that I've saved for the longest time.     The teal color and design on the cuff reminded me of the peacock tails in the Borke painting, so it seemed the time was right to finally use the cuff.

I added beads on each side.  Teal-colored Czech glass crystals, brass beads, and persimmon-colored freshwater pearls are all wrapped up in copper wire with a handmade copper clasp to fasten the bracelet.   These represent not only the Japanese persimmons hanging from the tree in the painting, but also the colors found in the peacock feathers.

I braided hand-ripped strips from three different raku-printed fabrics  to get the look of peacock feathers and to pick up other colors in the painting, then used brass ribbon clamps to finish the ends.

There will be a Blog Tour on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013

There you are :) On the 30th :) Sorry, I HAD to tease!

LOVE your design, more because it has so many elements of the peacock and the painting, but not lifting ideas straight out of there.

Beautiful as always :)

Love Cindy's bracelet bars, and I like how you braided the silk with this one!

But Kashmira, take note, I published this page on Jan. 29! I deserve more credit than I'm getting here! ha! :-)

Gale, I'm with you on Cindy's bracelet bars! I often use the smaller ones but just loved this one instantly...and this was way before the new Pantone colors were announced! How lucky they chose a color I just love anyway!

I must confess though, several people have thought the Raku fabrics were silk. They are really cotton. Nice and soft though. I love using these!

This is lovely. I love the art bead and the colors of the Raku are beautiful. So many outfits would match with this beauty. Excited to see what next month is. Happy creating. Hugs, Kimi from www.Kimisjewelryandgifts.blogspot.com

I love the juxtaposition of the soft, varigated silk and the shiny, crisp, ceramic bead. Lovely color choices and wonderful design!
