"Clean-up, Fix-up Your Workspace" Challenge & Blog Hop Reveal!

The count-down is over and it's time to reveal our new shiny clean, reorganized workspaces!   (....Or well, our tidied up, not-quite-as-messy-as-they-were workspaces!)   Whatever approach each person has taken is fine.  This has been an opportunity for those of us who felt it a good time for a quality-cleanup in our studios to get busy!   Whether you tackled a messy table, organized beads or tools, or took on an entire room, I'm anxious to see the results!

Since I began this event as a way of hopefully encouraging a few folks to join me in my own cleaning activities, (and was thrilled when so many decided to do so), I'll show you some before/after photos of my own work area.

Then, I'll list all the participants and links to where they have posted.   I hope everyone enjoys hopping from blog-to-blog to see the fabulous results!   Comments on blogs or Facebook are welcomed and encouraged!   Thanks for participating, whether by cleaning or following our exploits!   ~Sharyl

****************
Sharyl's Mess & Clean-up:

I showed you a table of mine before the event.
I was too embarrassed to show you the whole room!  The truth is, I have a computer desk, 2 antique table/desks (this being one), and a work bench,.. in addition to bookshelves, 2 chests, and other storage.   The problem is, it's all jammed into a tiny little room that used to be "the baby's room" 20+ years ago!

As you can imagine, one of the biggest problems is finding a path to walk in there!

If there's a flat space, I'm naturally prone to cover it... with anything and everything.  But tonight at least, I'm seeing bits of bare wood again, and a few open spaces.   I'm telling you, it wasn't easy!

Bead Table:  Before and After

(The black wood piece, far left, has 4 drawers.
It was my first storage for art beads.
I grew out of that and added the yellow tool-chest type storage.
And now have several more storage units for art beads.
The gray unit with bins stores metal findings such as earwires,
metal spacer beads, bead caps, chain and jumprings.)

Left:  Before =  "Catch-all table"
Right:   New "Mailing Station" (left)
and "Items to be Listed" Section (far right)

White Wicker Shelves:  Before/After
Stores metal embosser, large cutting board, etc.
Top Row:   Photo Light Tent:   Before/After
Bottom Row:   Photography and Metals Work bench:   Before/After

Gray wooden chest (family heirloom) full of beads and items for sale,
tucked inside closet.
Black chest holds paper and stamping products
(Top left, before.  All others are after.)

I have a few more, but think I'll stop for now and save them for another day!  I want you to have time to explore the other blogs!

Thanks for stopping by!  (Participant list follows!)   ~Sharyl

Hi Sharyl! You made some definite progress! You are my hero. Now to keep my work surface clean, and move on to reorganize the rest of the space!

Yeah, you had a lot of spaces to work on, just like me! However, it looks like you tackled all of yours! I have to admit, it feels wonderful...and rather naked! Thanks so much for this challenge!

Sharyl, this blog hop was such a great idea! Thank you for hosting it. This could become an annual event, because I am certain that one year from now, my studio will need a complete overhaul again! ;)
Your studio looks great now. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for hosting this event Sharyl. I got so much done but of course there is still more to do. Continuing to work and use ideas from other participants. Annual event?

Quick update: I've been through quite a few of your pages and I'm absolutely so impressed by the work each of you involved undertook and the ways you've presented it in your entries! Such creativity! I'm inspired to do mine AGAIN...once I recoup from this round!

I still have many more blogs to visit. If I haven't been by yet, I will be! Many thanks and have a great day! --Sharyl

You know I've been cleaning up my studio for the last year it seems. I think all the big pieces are finally in the right spaces. I think you have an incredible transformation here, everything looks very organized with a proper spot and container. I think we better do this annually to keep us all accountable to this kind of state of tidy....at least for while it lasts. I just got home from getting a few more supplies to finish the job at my end. Thanks so much for cracking that whip!

You did such a great job! I think we all let our rooms get to the same point—well, at least I do! LOL Isn't it fun when everything is finally back in its place and you have room to walk around? ;-D Thanks so much for organizing this fun blog hop and giving me the incentive to clean up my own spaces! *Ü*

well done, love your photo box, and everything looks so tidy now - space is such a luxury, I'm envious of people who have it, I certainly don't. Thanks for hosting.

WOW..Sharyl.. I have been blog hopping..just to see the fabulous clean ups.. I am one big FAIL.. I'm sorry to say... Just did not manage to get it done in time.. I took pictures of the 'before', and managed to clean up just my bead stash ... sadly got side-tracked with some forgotten treasures... :P So sorry....Since I have started, I will do a clean up and post about it soon..Just did not make it on the said date...sigh..!!

Thank you, all! From dreaded clean-up to friendship and sharing--what a nice event this has turned out to be! I think I've finally managed to get around to everyone's page and leave a message, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself on the journey!

I made a note next to blogs that hadn't posted when I visited and will check again Sunday to see if a post is up. I didn't do this to embarrass anyone (and hope I don't), but to help speed the process for those wanting to see the posts and to help me find the new ones on Sunday! I'll remove the notations if I see you have an entry up, or please feel free to leave me a note here.

I hope you've enjoyed yourselves as much as I have. I look forward to more hopping tomorrow! --Sharyl

I have now posted... suffice it to say I failed I have posted some pictures of my clutter in the house...the lamp working and metal working studio is horrendous.. and I've allowed myself to be put on a studio tour list for the summer so I have 3 months to shovel that out so there is floor space for someone other than me!

Islandgirl said...

I failed.. I now have failed pictures posted and some excuses see FOL color post for more excuses... I do need to also clean up my flameworking and metal studio as I somehow got signed up for a self guided studio tour of our area for next summer... I think you may have embarrassed me to the point that I might continue the shoveling! Thanks for the push!

this was such a fabulous idea, love "peeking" in studios and getting ideas! I've just set up a painting 'nook' in my wee dining area, and already it's beginning to pike up, LOL.
I visited Swapna's before and after posts first, and will be visiting other studios soon! Thanks for hosting/inspiring this spring clean!
