Valentine's Day--Why I'm fascinated, all over again!

First, a very Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!   It's a day of love and care and friendship, and I extend my very best wishes for an abundance of these gifts to each of you!

Aside from the event though, I admit it,... I've been getting pretty tired of the COLOR RED.   I posted a question on Facebook last night asking what colors people are interested in wearing next!    So far, only one response (and it was a good one)!   I'd like to hear more though, so please comment  here or on the Facebook page!

Green is a sure bet.  With a last name like "McMillian" there's bound to be some celebrating of all things Celtic in March!   What other colors or color combinations would you like to see and wear?   Are you into pastels or bright colors?   I would love your feedback!

I was also getting tired of all the "same-old, same-old" when it comes to Valentine's Day and went looking for some history of the event.   I found that History.com has an interesting site that contains information from the history of Valentine's Day to the history of chocolate, to V-day photographs, and so much more!

I'll include the link to the main page V-Day on History.com ... but here are a few of my favorites:

  • According to this site, " The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred.  Read more on each one in the "The Legend of St. Valentine." section.
  • In "Valentine's Day by the Numbers," we learn that 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolates are sold each year.   (I know I always get one!)   :-)

  • There are also some fun Valentine photographs.  My personal favorite is the one of the candy conversational hearts being manufactured!  (Photo #3)   I'm not a huge fan of those candies, but seeing all those colors together reminds me of piles of beads!

I hope you enjoy the site and the day!

Hi, Sharyl. I like cheery colors for Spring that make me think of nature. Bright blues, greens, and pinks remind me of the budding flowers in a garden.

Hi Sharyl,
I'm thinking I would like to see more pieces made with different shades of browns, oranges, and greens. I hope you had a fabulous day yesterday!
